The Law Enforcement Officer program takes what you learned in the Special Function Officer program and gets you ready to become a certified police officer in Utah. It’s required training for anyone who wants to work as a patrol officer, investigator, or deputy. Through classroom lessons and hands-on practice, you’ll build the skills needed to serve and protect your community.

Admission Requirements
-Students must complete the Special Function Officer Program as a prerequisite to this program.
-Students must provide their high school transcripts, GED, or diploma. Must be at least 21 at time of certification as an LEO officer.
-Must complete the NPOST exam before entering the program.
-Must have a signed POST-approved medical release form.
-Must have completed a Utah POST application.
-Must pass physical standards on the first day of class.

*Of Special Note: A felony conviction in the past will make it extremely difficult for the student to pass the Utah State POST application or get a job in this industry.
