The Law Enforcement Officer program takes what you learned in the Special Function Officer program and gets you ready to become a certified police officer in Utah. It’s required training for anyone who wants to work as a patrol officer, investigator, or deputy. Through classroom lessons and hands-on practice, you’ll build the skills needed to serve and protect your community.

Admission Requirements

Students must complete the Special Function Officer Program as a prerequisite to this program. Students must provide their high school transcripts, GED, or diploma. Must be at least 21 at time of certification as an LEO officer. Must complete the NPOST exam before entering the program. Must have a signed POST-approved medical release form. Must have completed a Utah POST application. Must pass physical standards on the first day of class.

  • 1.5 Mile Run (16:11)

Of Special Note: A felony conviction in the past will make it extremely difficult for the student to pass the Utah State POST application or get a job in this industry.
