Internet Safety Policy

  1. Policy

1.1. It is the policy of Tooele Technical College to; prevent user access over the computer network toinappropriate material via the Internet, electronic mail, or other forms of digital communications; prevent unauthorized access and other unlawful online activity; prevent unauthorized online disclosure, use, or dissemination of personal identification information of minors; and comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act.

2.2. Tooele Technical College Computer Resources Acceptable Use Policy

  1. Access to Inappropriate Material

3.1. To the extent practical, technology protection measures, internet filters, shall be used to block or filterinternet access to inappropriate information.

3.2. Specifically, as required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act, a technology protection measure is in place to block or filter inappropriate sites on the Internet. This filtering mechanism protects against access by adults and minors to obscene visual depictions and child pornography on College networks or computers with internet access by minors harmful to minors.

  1. Inappropriate Network Usage

4.1. To the extent practical, steps shall be taken to promote the safety and security of users of the TooeleTechnical College network when using any form of digital communication.

4.2. Specifically, as required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act, prevention of inappropriate network usage includes; unauthorized access, including “hacking” and other unlawful activities; unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal identification information regarding minors.

  1. Education, Supervision, and Monitoring

5.1. The Tooele Technical College Computer Resources Acceptable Use Policy outlines the appropriate use ofcomputer resources at Tooele Technical College and applies to all users of computing resources owned or managed by Tooele Technical College; minors, adults, students, employees, and guests.

5.2. All students and Employees will be provided a copy of the Computer Resources Acceptable Use Policy.

5.3. The user agrees to comply with all computing-related policies by using College Information Systems.
