1. Purpose and Scope

1.1. The purpose of the policy is to provide guidelines for employee conduct at the College and

College-sponsored/operated programs.


2. Policy

2.1. It is the policy of the College that all employees professionally and positively represent the institution.


As such, all Employees are required to:


2.1.1. Interact with others associated with the College in a professional manner and treat others with basic human respect, dignity, attentiveness, and fairness.

2.1.2. Conduct themselves by evaluating how to improve customer service. Students are our customers and validate our continued employment. All employees play a role in recruitment, retention, and the success of every student.

2.1.3. Build and maintain a positive learning environment within the College and an institutional culture where students and employees are treated professionally with kindness, teamwork, and a “can do” attitude.

2.1.4. Maintain confidential personally identifiable information (PII) as entrusted to the College by

students, parents, employees, and community members. Conversations and computer usage that

contain PII are to be restricted to others who have a right to that information and are to be

conducted with an awareness of who might overhear within the related PII policies of the College.

2.1.5. Make a commitment to professional growth within your position.

2.1.6. Become a problem solver and an effective communicator who strives to interact with others by showing courtesy, clarity, and reasonableness. All should strive to understand the perspectives of others and to resolve differences, beginning with the person closest to the problem, before

contacting the direct supervisor.

2.1.7. Fulfill the duties of their jobs in a safe manner, bring safety concerns to the appropriate person within the College, follow safety policies and procedures of the College, and act within the

accepted safety standards of the specific program.

2.1.8. Follow lawful supervisor directives and College policies and procedures.

2.1.9. Adhere to all state and federal laws related to the operation of the College and other laws of the land.

2.1.10. Use appropriate language, avoid spreading rumors, dress professionally for one’s job duties, present a positive image to the community, and arrive at work at assigned times ready to work and fulfill one’s job duties. While working, refrain from engaging in excessive personal

conversations with students, co-workers, friends, and family.

2.1.11. Exercise good judgment in making decisions and in the use of the resources and property of the College. Maintain and protect College assets. Do not use College property for personal financial gain.

2.1.12. Seek answers to concerns about policies and administrative decisions in a respectful manner. Once any questions have been addressed, actively strive to operate within policy and to fulfill authorized directives, initiatives listed in the strategic plan, and other job-related tasks with

exactness.

2.1.13. Accept the responsibility for representing Tooele Technical College in a professional and ethical manner, reflecting the values, integrity, and reputation of the College.
