EMT/AEMT Adjunct Instructor

Pay Rate: $29.60 per hour

Hours: The hours will vary and will be determined with the Course Coordinator. Class hours August-May are Monday-Friday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Monday-Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Class hours May-August are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Opportunity:The adjunct instructor will be responsible for assisting in teaching and training students in both thepractical and theoretical aspects of advanced emergency medical services, including patient assessment,treatment procedures, and medical protocols. They will assist with delivering lectures and covering gapsin the instructional calendar. The main duty of the adjunct instructor will be to oversee hands-on skillstraining and evaluate student performance to ensure competency and readiness for exams, including the National Certification exam, NREMT. Additionally, they ensure compliance with educational standards, contribute to curriculum development, and mentor students throughout their training.


What you’ll do:

  • Assist with instruction and training within applicable program in accordance with curriculum and standards for subject matter being taught as assigned by the lead instructor or program director

  • Teach effectively using a competency-based curriculum

  • Evaluate the knowledge and competency of students and provide accurate reports under the supervision of the lead instructor and program director

  • Maintain a productive and safe learning environment consistent with Tooele Technical College policy

  • Promote job readiness, encourage professionalism and good work habits, and assist with helping students find work-based learning opportunities, related employment, and/or continued education


What we’re looking for:

  • Competent in given area of expertise being taught

  • For EMT program, current EMT, AEMT, or Medic license and certification with the State of Utah, and current endorsement as an EMS instructor

  • For AEMT program, current AEMT or Medic license and certification with the State of Utah, and current endorsement as an EMS instructor

  • Two year’s industry experience in area of expertise

  • High school diploma, or equivalent

  • Degree in related field preferred

  • Teaching experience in a secondary or post-secondary institution preferred

  • Experience in career and technical education preferred

  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills
